MANILA, 2 September 2008 — In connection with the Pauline Year Celebrations, the Pauline Family gets introduced at the TV Program “Power to Unite” hosted by Ms. Elvira Go which is aired at PTV 4 on Sundays, 6 to 6:30 P.M. and replayed at Channel 13, from 10 to 10:30 P.M.. The TV Program was an offshoot of the successful recognition of “Power to Unite” MTV, produced by Elvira Go of the National Bible Quiz Inc., which won a Gold World Medal for the entertainment category at the prestigious New York Festivals last Feb. 1, 2008. Director Louie Ignacio made the “great execution” of the video. The song performed by Rene Martinez was composed by Ms. Go herself while Ms. Charo Unite provided the melody. The music video was one of the nineteen finalists in the 2008 New York Festivals’ Television Broadcasting Category.

 

In the first segment Fr. Ruben C. Areno, SSP - Provincial Superior of the Society of St. Paul, Philippine-Macau Province, was interviewed together with Fr. Paul Marquez, SSP, - Editor of Sambuhay and Staff Writer of CBCP Monitor, and Cleric Ian Paul Empig, SSP. In the second segment, Ms. Elvira Go focused on the female counterparts represented by: Sr. Ma. Rita Siochi SGBP, Provincial Superior of the Sisters of Jesus the Good Shepherd (Pastorelle), and Sr. Martha Bruan PDDM, and Sr. Gemma de la Cruz, FSP.

On August 20, 2008, as we celebrated the Eucharist for the 94th Foundation Anniversary of the Society of St. Paul, the Philippine-Macau Province accepted Fr. Joselino "Joey" Tuazon as the first aspirant of the Institute of Jesus the Priest (IJP). During the Mass, Fr. Joey, who is the Parish Priest of San Roque Parish (Cabrera Street, Pasay City) expressed his willingness to partake of the life and ministry of the Pauline Family. As a response, Fr. Ruben Areno, SSP exhorted Fr. Joey to remain faithful to his life as a diocesan priest while at the same time to enrich it with the treasures of Pauline spirituality and ministry. As part of his initiation, he was given a copy of the Manual of Pauline Prayers.

Fr. Joey has known the congregation for several years already. In fact, he has already joined the community in their annual retreats. He is a close friend of Fr. Armand Tangi, SSP. During the Novena for the feast of San Roque, he often invites Pauline priests to celebrate the Mass for his parishioners.

As an aspirant, he will be under the directions of Fr. Jean Rollin Flores, SSP and Fr. Dante Lumabas, SSP.
