St. Paul was an intrepid missionary who traversed the known world in his time, covering what are now Syria, Israel, Turkey, Greece, and Italy. It is very probable that he reached the "limits of the west"—Spain—before his martyrdom in Rome. For the ongoing celebration of the bi-millennium of St. Paul's birth, the St. Paul Seminarians in Silang, Cavite, spearheaded by the Community Communications Class, held last October 25 "Walk with St. Paul"—a walk from the Rogationist College to St. Paul Seminary, a distance of five kilometres. The purpose was to make known the Pauline Year and to remind the participants of the journeys the Apostle undertook to preach the Gospel of Christ. Coordinating the project were Fr. Gil Alinsangan, the Seminary Rector, and Mr. Mike Reyes, the Class Adviser. The seminarians attended to the details like contacting the police escort, the baranggay officials, and the religious congregations who were participating. The day of the walk was blessed with fine weather. Some 250 persons, excluding the SSP seminarians, participated: members of religious institutes, student-delegates, even a children-choir. Order and safety in the highway was overseen by police escorts. Along the way, the participants waved coloured banners and prayed the rosary. The culmination of the pilgrimage was the Holy Mass presided by the SSP Provincial Superior, Fr. Ruben Areño, with Fr. Gil Alinsangan giving the homily. The congregation then proceeded to the seminary gym for a simple Jollibee agape. The event showed the capacity of the seminarians to organize a big project. It also introduced the seminary community and the new St. Paul chapel to people in the surroundings. -Fr. Gil Alinsangan, SSP Seminary Rector

Bro. Jess, now a perpetually professed Pauline |
Coinciding with this year's feast of Jesus the Divine Master (October 26, 2008), Cl. Jesus P. Gozun of Porac, Pampanga professed his perpetual vows to the Society of St. Paul. This milestone in his vocation was witnessed by his parents, immediate family members, friends, aspirants of the Society of St. Paul, and members of the Pauline Family. The event, which was held at the Sanctuary of St. Paul, started at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Fr. Ruben Areño , SSP (Provincial Superior) presided over the Eucharist while Fr. Dane Lumabas, SSP served as the homilist. More than twenty Pauline priests and a couple of diocesan priests which includes Fr. Emil Guiao (Archdiocese of San Fernando) who is a cousin of Bro. Jess, and Fr. Joey Tuazon who is an aspirant to the Institute of Jesus the Priest, were present during the solemn celebration. In his homily, Fr. Lumabas emphasized the need for Bro. Jess to be faithful in his identity as a Pauline. He stressed the need to focus on the Pauline apostolate and the other expressions of the "Pauline color". As an advice, he also challenged the newly professed to accept the perceived weaknesses of the congregation, in the same manner that the whole congregation lovingly accepted him inspite of his own imperfections. To Bro. Jess, congratulations and welcome to the Society of St. Paul—your family in perpetuity. *Visit the Gallery for more photographs. |
