City of San Fernando, Pampanga—In a simple Admission Rite presided by the Provincial Superior, Fr. Jose Aripio, SSP, nine new novices started their canonical year at the Novitiate House on May 30, 2014.

After completing their Postulancy year in Cebu and in other Pauline communities in the Philippines, they are now expected to complete a whole year stay in the Novitiate House to prepare them for their profession of vows. The new Novices are: Henrol Cabanag (Bohol), Edward Anthony Cometa (Eastern Samar), Buen Andrew Cruz (Cavite), Mark Lawrence Fabregas (Cavite), Michael Recinto (Bataan), Ian Lucky Sumbilla (Eastern Samar), Reycard Tomulto (Iloilo), Ren Vincent Villanueva (Manila) and Armando Vizcarra Jr. (Parañaque).

In his homily, Fr. Aripio stressed to the new Novices that, “Novitiate is not a place or a time for you to ask yourself: ‘Do I have a vocation?’ It's a time for you to be convinced that you do have a vocation and live-up a life of a Religious.” He also pointed-out the importance of the “dialogue of loyalty” wherein it is important for the Novice to be always aware of God’s call and bring it to fulfillment through perseverance in the formation.

Fr. Joel Baguna, SSP, and Fr. Noel Magbanua, SSP, who served as seminary formators to the new Novices during their seminary studies—officially served as witnesses to the event. A meal fellowship followed.
