Sanctuary of St Paul the Apostle, Makati CityFr. Joselino “Joey” B. Tuazon, IJP professed his first religious vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and fidelity to the Roman Pontiff in the Institute of Jesus the Priest (IJP) on the occasion of the 98thFoundation Anniversary of the Society of Saint Paul, August 20, 2012. Fr. Jose Aripio, SSP, the Provincial Superior of the Society of St Paul Philippines-Macau Province received the vows of the first IJP professed member in the Philippines. Fr. Gil Alinsangan, SSP, Delegate of the Pauline aggregated institutes in the Philippines and Fr. Jaime Vidal Zuñiga of the Archdiocese of Manila stood as his witnesses.

Fr. Joey made a history of the IJP in the Philippines being its first fruit. He is a priest of the Archdiocese of Manila and the parish priest of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Old Sta. Mesa, Manila. He now shares in the apostolate of the Society of Saint Paul, drawing people and his parishioners closer to Jesus Master, the Way, the Truth and the Life through social communication as a member of the IJP and of the Pauline Family.

Fr. Rollin Flores, SSP, formator-assigned of the institute was the homilist. Fr. Flores pointed out the importance of an IJP member on the pastoral idea of 2nd Plenary Council of the Philippines and highlighted the thoughts of Blessed James Alberione, who once a diocesan priest, of the role of an IJP to the Pauline Family and to the Church. After the rite of the first profession it was announced that Fr. Armand Tangi, SSP would be the new formator of the newly professed member of the IJP.

Society of Saint Paul General Superior Fr. Silvio Sassi, SSP expressed his joy, in behalf of the General Government, of having the first harvest of the IJP in the Philippines as he prays for the growth of its vocation. Afterwards, Fr. Joey gave also a message telling the roots and history of his Pauline Vocation, declaring that he now belonged to the Pauline Family that once he wanted to join.

Meal fellowship followed after at the Alberione Hall.
