Closing of the Year of Priests

June 10, 2010 (SSP, Makati City)—The Society of St. Paul in the Philippines closed the Year for Priests last June 10, 2010 with an afternoon reflection given by Fr. Francis Gustilo, SDB, former Provincial Superior of the Salesians and currently a member of the Pontifical Theological Commission which advices the Holy Father.

Fr. Francis spoke of priesthood in the light of the Letter to the Hebrews. Before the conference, the SSP community had a Eucharistic adoration led by Sr. Ma. Leticia Bantolinao, Provincial Superior of the Pious PDDM Sisters. The closing Eucharistic celebration in the Sanctuary of St. Paul was presided by the Provincial Superior, Fr. Ruben Areño, SSP, and attended by delegates from the different institutes of the Pauline Family. The afternoon event was capped by supper.

The SSP priests were also invited by the PDDM communities in their program marking the close of the Year for Priests. The Provincial Community held theirs on June 7 and the Agoncillo Community on June 9. The Sisters joined the priests in the Eucharistic adoration, offered them supper, and organized different games with prizes. These activities were meant to show their love and support for priests, especially those who offer their communities priestly service.
